DEONTOLOGIZATION OF DRAMA IN A SOCIAL CONTEXT: FRUSTRATION VS. CATHARSIS

Abstract
Since the time of Aeschylus, dramatic art aimed at the moral purification of a person through empathy, that Aristotle called catharsis. Being a powerful means of influencing the consciousness of people, the drama helped to consolidate the society to achieve the public good. In this article the author considers the phenomenon of deontologization of drama in the contemporary world as the replacement of catharsis with frustration, revealing the consequences of such substitution both for the individual and for the society as a whole.
