ACADEMIC POSSIBILITIES OF BLOG TECHNOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING THE ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS FOR STUDENTS OF AGRICULTURAL SPECIALITIES

Abstract

The article presents didactic characteristics of blog technology for developing the English writing skills for students specializing in agriculture: publicity, linearity, authorship and moderation, multimedia, effective organization of information space, interactivity, ease of use, security and self-presentation. There are classifications of blogs by authors, a prevailing type of multimedia, form, degree of integration into the learning process, the right to participate in discussions and publication of messages, peculiarities of the content. The following blogs are considered in detail: the blog of a teacher, the collective blog of students and students’ personal blogs. The types of texts that are usually used in blogs are determined: the type of a text that corresponds to the personal type of a blog, the type of a text of an expert blog, the type of a comment blog text. The type of the text of the expert blog is established to be suitable for students specializing in agriculture. The following Internet resources which can be used for reading and creating blogs in English were analyzed: Academia.edu, SciTech Connect, LabRoots, Mendeley, MyExperiment, Social Science Research Network.
