PHILOSOPHICAL AND CULTUROLOGICAL COMPREHENSION OF THE CATEGORY “EXISTENTIAL CHOICE”

Abstract

In the article genesis and evolution of the existential choice concept are considered, types of choice are singled out, definition of the existential choice is given and its defining characteristics are outlined. The author takes up the position that each existential choice is unique, and yet there exist some common characteristics that influence the behavior model of a person in liminal situations. It is shown that the problem of existential choice cannot be explained only within the scope of “clear mind”, as history demonstrates, without the sphere of transcendent it is impossible to understand neither the essence of existence nor making an existential choice. Existential choice is a short-term action, the final step in the number of moral choices, an action, doing which a person moves to a new round of development, into the eternity.
