AUTHORITY GUARANTEEING THE NUCLEAR SAFETY IN THE NUCLEAR LAW IN FRANCE

Abstract
The article considers the order of creation and operation of the authority for nuclear safety (L’ASN), established by French law. According to the regulations on the transparency in French nuclear law and the existing laws on transparency, nuclear safety and protection from radiation the legal status of L’ASN is determined as well as its constitutive features. A complete legal description of L’ASN is given as an administrative and independent authority which monitors and provides information on nuclear activities. The formation, structure and functions of L’ASN are studied as well as the rights of this body, the procedure of making decisions within its competence. Special attention is paid to the decisions and resolutions taken by L’ASN, together with their legal effect and implications for nuclear safety and awareness of the population.
