RESEARCH OF AMERICAN LITERATURE ABOUT THE FIRST WORLD WAR IN MODERN LITERARY STUDIES

Abstract

The article reviews the main scientific works devoted to American prose and poetry about the First World War. The focus is on the conceptually significant works published over the past thirty years. There are different approaches to war literature which are considered at different levels: thematic, structural, comparative, motif ones, etc. It is noted that the concept of ‘lost generation’ as an acquisition of American cultural studies has acquired many meanings. Their systematisation and interpretation occupy one of the central places in modern scientific research.
