PRAGMATIC FUNCTIONS OF MEDICINE TERMINOLOGY IN THE COVID-19 DISCOURSE

Abstract
The article examines the linguistic and pragmatic potential of medical terminology presented in Internet news articles about coronavirus. The main speech functions of medical terms getting into the "gravitational" space of media have been revealed. The article states the ability of medical terminology to acquire additional functions under the condi-tions of a media communication, as well as a tendency of terms to lose their traditional properties under the influence of media environment factors. Terms have been concluded to be able to radically change their pragmatic vector depending on the communicative conditions in which they find themselves.
