THE SHORT STORY "WHO IS A TRAITOR?" IN THE FICTIONAL WORLD OF J.W. GOETHE’S NOVEL “WILHELM MEISTER'S JOURNEYMAN YEARS”

Abstract
One of the inset short stories of I.V. Goethe's novel “Wilhelm Meister's Journeyman Years” is analyzed. The polemical nature of the artistic world of the novel is revealed. The ideas of protagonist’s journey vector in the novel. Self-cognition and the revelation of one's own identity are the basis of the subject matter of the short story “Who is a traitor?” which is unfolded at the level of composition (the change of points of view, dramatization), reflex and nominative symbolism and character patterns.
