Abstract
The study of West European and American literary process of the 1920 – 1930s is impossible without dealing with the works devoted to the First World War events. Traditionally foreign, Russian and native scientists analyse the books written by the lost generation representatives. There are some problems with the literary studies definition of this term which has developed several characteristics. Quite often Jh. Dos Passos’, R. Aldington’s, E.M. Remarque’s, F.S. Fitzgerald’s, W. Faulkner’s and E. Hemingway’s works are treated as a special unity. It is necessary to say that in case of thorough study the number of works connected with the lost generation can be divided into several subgroups. This article can be treated as an attempt to classify these works by West European and American authors.
