Abstract

This paper describes the process of adapting the Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI) for the Russianspeaking population. The need to validate ECI drives from increasing interest of scientist to the problem of emotional creativity (EC) and consequently appeared need for valid and reliable measures of EC. The five-factor model (novelty-uniqueness, preparedness for reflect on emotions, effectiveness, authenticity, emotional complexity) was confirmed by exploratory (maximum likelihood with oblique rotation) and confirmatory factor analysis. The sample was comprised of 310 higher education students (144 men and 166 women) aged between 18 and 32 years old (Мage = 20,47; SD =2,48) – students from natural science and humanities departments of Lomonosov MSU. The distinctive feature of our approach is the assessment of the convergent validity throw the search of linkages with individual features include a person’s ability to work with inner emotional plane. ECI demonstrated high indexes of internal consistency and predictable relations with emotional intelligence (EI) and psychological mindedness (PM).
