THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PATRIOTISM FEELING IN STUDENTS

Abstract
The article presents the results of an empirical study of the level of students’ patriotism and its dynamics over the past eight years. The subjects of the study are university graduates with two pedagogical majors: physical education and foreign languages. The article describes the component characteristics of patriotism and illustrates their hierarchy. In addition, the characteristics of these components are shown − their severity and coefficients of the variability. The article also provides data of the comparative analysis for the components of patriotism in both student groups and shows data of two dimensions in 2015 and 2023. Finally, there are the results of calculating the correlation coefficients of patriotism indicators in groups of different students, and in groups in different years of measurement. The differences among students of different pedagogical majors are insignificant, however, over the past eight years the level of patriotism has changed significantly in both groups.
